Improving working conditions for women

Imagine you could visit the workers who produce your Christmas presents or the ingredients for the Christmas menu. School pupil Liliane Helfrich had the opportunity to do just that. Today, we invite you to take a look at the supply chains of large and small suppliers from amfori's network of companies.

The goal as a network | Over 2,400 amfori members - 150 in Switzerland - are active in almost 100 countries, support more than 50,000 producers and improve the working conditions of 9 million people. The mission of amfori is to create a future in which companies are economically successful and at the same time achieve positive social and ecological effects. This also applies to members such as Migros, Coop, PKZ, Intersport, SBB, Trisa Holding AG, Rohner Socks, Triumph, Kuhn Rikon, Regent, fachwerk, bb trading, Möbel Pfister and Axpo WZ-Systems. Continuous dialogue is crucial for sustainable improvements - even between competitors. The amfori audit system enables companies to share audit work and support with joint producers and exchange results.

The visit on site | A visit to Moroccan producers by student Liliane Helfrich, accompanied by Pierre Strub, the amfori Network Representative for Switzerland, provided a direct insight into the everyday lives of women. She realised how much the entrepreneurs see themselves as representatives of their country. As modern companies that pay above-average wages, they want to be role models and contribute to the country's development. ‘ Young mothers in particular benefit from many measures: For example, the company's own school right next to the packaging station makes it easier to return to work after parental leave.’

Do you know any companies in your area? | amfori's members are diverse - from small businesses to international corporations - and all contribute to putting the principles of sustainable trade into practice. Working with amfori not only gives companies the opportunity to improve their supply chains, but also to participate in a network and community committed to shared values.

The visit by student Liliane Helfrich to Morocco showed in concrete terms how, for example, a company-owned school makes life easier for young mothers and how safety regulations minimize risks.

Amfori is committed to transparency and cooperation. The video gives an insight into the standards, how they are monitored and continuously developed.
