News from the swapping corner

Today we present news from initiatives that want to make swapping and sharing easy. New stand

Good for the environment, good for your wallet | At ETH Zurich, there is now a clothes exchange cupboard to the left of the entrance to the bQm (culture café and bar at the Polyterrasse) next to the table football. Clothes can be brought and collected independently during the building's opening hours. "We don't want to go to a lot of trouble to find new clothes. Our concept is therefore as uncomplicated as possible so that clothes swapping can be easily integrated into everyday life. "

Open closets in housing estates | The Fashion Revolution project, which we presented in the 2021 Advent calendar, has grown into a project involving 5 closets in various housing estates. Experience shows that it takes 3 - 4 months until enough people are aware of the offer and a balance of give and take is established. To keep the wardrobe attractive, a few good souls are needed to look after it about twice a week and hang up the clothes that have fallen out. In the Riedhof housing estate, there will be an exchange corner with an open wardrobe in the cooperative's common room. The opening will take place on 22.12. together with the introduction of green waste collection and an open fridge from "Madame Frigo"

Shareitt goes Uster, Basel, Winterthur... | Since we introduced the Shareitt initiative last year, the swapping community in Switzerland has grown to over 2600 participants, who have already handed over several thousand items "into good hands". Dozens of "wishes" were fulfilled. For example, a teacher wished for a guitar for a pupil and received it thanks to the community, which she was able to buy for Shareitt points instead of money. Anyone who joins Shareitt receives starting points as a welcome gift. After that, you earn points when you offer and pass on items yourself or, for example, organize a swap event and invite friends to join the community.

Shaping a new culture Swapping and sharing are fun on various levels. You can declutter, create space and try out new things. For many people, it is more pleasant to pass on something they love than to dispose of it. You get to know people with similar tastes, can tell stories about an item and share the joy. Shareitt organizes children's book swapping events and "Chrabbel concerts" so that this culture and joy of swapping is discovered and practised at an early age. At the "Chrabbel-Konzerte", musicians play music that children understand and are prepared for the children to crawl to the musicians and thus share the joy of music.
