Giving objects a second life

Anyone who subscribes to baby bodysuits instead of purchasing them and who willingly lets his high-end camera online, is part of a circular economy. This year, following projects participated in the WWF's Catalyzer program for resource-light business models. These projects pave the way towards an efficient and eco-friendly use of resources:

Rental instead of purchasing:

MINILOOP: baby bodysuits on subscription | Because our little ones grow out of their clothes so fast, MINILOOP offers organic baby clothes on subscription. Once they are outgrown, the next subscription box with high quality garments made of silk and wool is ready. Thanks to this system, MINILOOP not only helps save valuable resources, but also helps you save money!

Sharely: an online network for rental | Sharely’s core value is to promote local sharing instead of purchasing. Members may rent and rent out all sorts of daily equipment, such as cameras, touring skis or even a kitchen robot. Moreover, the networking platform enables you to find rental offers nearby. Why try it? Because rental is generally cheaper and definitely more ecological than purchasing.

>No more food waste…
Or how to make one’s own preserves easily! | The canning library has prepared everything you need: canning workshops and equipment rental. Thanks to a simple canning method, large quantities of vegetables are saved. In addition, "Food Save" turns organic vegetables from the production surplus into yummy and healthy preserves, and offers them on subscription.

Offcut: second hand material markets | Offcut collects surplus materials from factories, studios and private individuals, and saves it from going to waste. Thus, the material markets located in Zurich, Bern and Basel promote a circular economy, bringing valuable materials back into visibility and use. Moreover, they are a real treasure chest for artists and handicrafts aficionados.

Revamp it: a new lease on life for old computers | Do you run out to buy a new computer when the one you are currently using eventually breaks down? Most of us are very familiar with this situation. However, Revamp it offers a great alternative : it not only repairs old computers, but it also sells refurbished computers in its online shop. Thus, Revamp it contributes greatly to unnecessary E-waste.

The WWF as a catalyzer | All of the above-mentioned projects participated in the Catalyzer program for resource-light business models, created in partnership by the WWF, Impact Hub and reverse. The aim of the support programme is to bring the selected start-ups closer to the market and to further develop their circular business models.
