What do graffiti, concerts and a sneaker have to do with sustainability?

Today we present art projects on sustainability

"Shaping tomorrow's world together" | This was the motto of the first "Ziel Zukunft Biennale" in Basel, Riehen, Allschwil, Münchenstein, Dornach and Arlesheim. Among other things, fair and ecologically produced fashion from regional and international designers was shown live on the catwalk, the CO2 sneaker with a live weight of 5.6 kg, Tiny Houses to try out or Street Art artists who painted their pictures for the future live on the walls. "In this way we have succeeded in combining sustainability with art and design and making it a sensual experience," says festival director Pierre Strub. And in doing so, to make a contribution to achieving the 17 UNO Sustainable Development Goals. The initiator and Basel-based NGO sun21 is also already looking forward to the next edition in 2021.

"Four Seasons" out of balance | The Elbphilharmonie performed an updated version of the famous Vivaldi piece. The special thing about it: For the new arrangement "For Seasons", historical climate data were compared with current ones and their difference was transformed into notes. The Berlin-based music production Kling Klang Klong converted this data into an algorithm that significantly alienated the piece. For example, the respective duration of the seasons has changed radically. Parts of autumn are already reflected in summer. The many birdcalls that Vivaldi musically represented have become much quieter due to the extinction of species. Thunderstorms, which in the original were mainly summertime, are now spread throughout the year. Ringing brooks have become torrents or have dried up. "Listen to it and give the theme the meaning it has long needed," said chief conductor Alan Gilbert about the memorable performance.

It remains for us to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

P.S.
Because we know that it is a hectic time for many, we will not finish the project until January 6th. This will give you time to deepen your knowledge of topics that interest you.

Here you can find the Overview of the 24 topics

On 6.12. we will draw the main prize from all those who have participated 12 times or more. With a bit of luck you can spend a weekend with company in the new year at the Hotel Valsana, which is groundbreaking in many areas. It is operated climate-neutral and bases its energy supply on a huge seasonal ice storage.
